Frequently Asked Questions
The chatbot does not “search the web” or use general public knowledge. It is exclusively trained on an official datastore comprised of Utah government websites and documents. This ensures that the answers you receive are based on current state regulations and official department resources rather than third party opinions.
The chatbot is designed to be a business assistant, not a general purpose AI. It will decline to answer if your question:
- Falls outside the scope of Utah business, taxes, or licensing.
- Requests legal advice or an interpretation of how the law applies to your specific situation.
- Asks for instructions on how to bypass state regulations or tax obligations.
No. The chatbot can provide information about laws and tax forms, but it cannot provide legal or tax advice. For example, it can tell you how to file a TC-40, but it cannot tell you if you should claim a specific deduction. For legal or tax strategy you must consult with a licensed professional.
Please do not share Personal Identifiable Information (PII). To protect your privacy, the chatbot is programmed to automatically redact prompts that contain sensitive data like SSNs, full bank account numbers, or private passwords. The chatbot does not have access to your individual tax records or private business filings.
The chatbot uses a datastore of general public information, not a live feed of private internal databases. It cannot “look up” your specific business entity status, check the balance of your tax account, or provide updates on a pending professional license application. For these specific inquiries, you must log in to the secure TAP or DWS portals directly.
